torn between wanting to make all my ocs Specialest Little Guys and overpowered VS. the fact I just finished watching all three extended editions of Lord of the Rings and am deeply moved by the struggles and worth of the common man

#ramblings #the end of Return of the King gave me many OC Thoughts and now you're going to hear them #might veto the whole 'Funney Big Weapon Guy is also psychic' thing for Sid Sibyl #won't fully un-magic him just cuz i made it a common thing in the setting but like. i might still nerf him a little in that aspect #his whole schtick is that he is aggressively Just A Guy #he's very persistent. won't come back from a job until he found the last crate that fell off the merchant's wagon or whatever #very good at sword-fighting. cuz he trains and spars a lot and eats like a furnace to keep up his strength #his 'high pain tolerance' is something im self-inserting where i won't notice injuries until later. a bit oblivious. just keeps on truckin #an altogether formidable combo but. he is so much Just A Guy #no super strength no immunities no super-charged magic. not even a cursed weapon to give him a leg up #he finally visits his home again and it's confusing why it's not the same as he remembers it-#-when he should have much more in common with old neighbors and vendors at the market than with his cosmically superpowered friends #old sights and sounds and some friends that give him a warm welcome-back but... it's not the same. it's not home. not anymore #from the moment he chose his path he could never go back home #and I feel like the tragedy of that would be undercut if i gave him something like future-vision or a magical sword

I’m considering and pondering the routine of setting up the crate and making it perfect (in Osc’s opinion). Mark making it part of Osc’s routine to layer everything in the crate, fix his pillows and toys, adjust everything, make it nice for himself. Mark will take care of washing everything but Osc gets control of how it’s set up. If you want to go rancid with the vibes there’s an element of humiliation if Mark decides they need to have a puppy pad in there or Osc has to put his toys in by his mouth

#the dog I’m sitting now will basically destroy any object within his reach and try to bite you in the face if he thinks you are going to #attempt to stop him. which is not great #they usually just end up crated most of the time…#personally if I lived in a small apartment in the city i would not adopt a big high strung dog that hates other dogs. bc i have experience #walking those dogs and it sucks!!!!! get a small dog!!!!!! sorry if you think they’re lame or whatever. or you want credit for rescuing a #pit bull. and yeah they have big dumb heads and always look like they’re smiling. but its not always the best option for either of you

#ive had my guide dog home for just about a week #and she already is going unprompted to her crate for bedtime after our last potty break for the night 🥹#idk just makes me feel like im doing something right #she loves her crate and she's doing well with our routine #she's so good 🥲#and she's been doing really well redirecting from distractions too #definitely hard w/ so many dogs around #and we learned 2day that walking Behind another dog is much more difficult than passing in opposit directions #which makes sense but still tough #im meeting with my regional trainer on thursday so i can get tips from her then #but like overall i think i got the actual best dog ever #she is SO smart and so good #and while she is ofc an energetic 2 y/o lab #she's kinda perfectly content to be a couch potato lmao #she's kinda a weird one she rly doesn't have a huge play drive from what i can tell #she likes a bit of fetch on chews her bones when she wants to #but tbh she hasnt been all that interested in her toys #idk if maybe that'll change as she gains comfort here #but rly our 'play' has mostly been 'games' training obedience and recall #with the occasional bit of fetch #i do think that as we bond more and she gets more confident and familiar w/ the area #she'll maybe be more motivated to play #but idk she might just not have a super high play drive #that or i have to get REAL creative w/ how to play w/ her #ive never had dogs idk what to do or expect #but regardless she is such a perfect girly 💞

the states dont have crate day how am i supposed to explain what kind of guy wiremu is when u dont understand what it means to be a Crate Day Guy

#its the first saturday of december (first saturday of summer in nz) and u buy a crate of beer #(24x 750ml bottles) and u have from noon until midnight to finish them (2 bottles an hour)#it is a Nightmare of a time bc people obviously get way too drunk and a Lot of people can not drink that much #in general let alone in the time limit #so mostly people will share crates or at least my friends tend to #but like. there are the kind of guys who are always Pumped for crate day and go super hard and i think wiremus like that #hes a very. hes a casual beer drinker in the way a Lot of people in nz are (read: borderline alcoholics)#but hes a bigger guy w a high tolerance so he very rarely gets hammered #wiremu: headcanons.

spore savant face markings, not meant for dunmer...

I have been OBSESSED with the spore savant face markings for months now, trying to get all components of the antiquity to finally unlock them, and after realizing (almost too late) that the infinite archive has the piece i'd been missing, i finally got ahold of my beloved mushroom makeup.

However,

I wanted this mushroom makeup for my dunmer... This is what she normally looks like (in this with the 'eyes of the scamp' contacts).

As you can see, she has dark dunmeri skin in warm medium greys. The spore savant face markings, which in lore are dunmer markings made for dunmer mushroom-mages, are NOT designed for characters with dark skin.

OBSERVE:

"What's the problem" You may be thinking. Well let's just spell it out for you, rather than getting a close look there at the weird light outlines, by showing how these markings look on my altmer:

looks fine.

ALSO, all the people who were putting up previews of what the spore savant head markings looked like only showed them on white humans and altmer (whose darkest skin tones are still unfortunately extremely light like my boy up there). For example, uesp shows a beautiful image of these markings having gorgeous orange and deep browns in them on their character. Am I blaming any of these preview people for only showing the markings on one single skintone? NO. Besides, 'eso.mmo-fashion' was the only place I could find that used to show these things on multiple species but that site no longer updates.

So why do these markings look like nice face art on light skin, but festering open sores on my dark-skinned dunmer? Because of transparency! Zos has been making a lot of body art items transparent, which looks nice on light skin, but horrendous (if it shows up at all) on dark skin. For this one in particular, as my sister pointed out "It's like they did the opposite of what you're supposed to do and made the lighter orange solid and the brown transparent".

It really feels as though zos went out of their way to make these markings look ugly on dark skin.

which is eXTRA wild considering they're markings BY elves with darker skin, FOR elves with darker skin.
